Maria A. L. Jocson, MD, MPH, FAAP is a Public Health Medical Officer in the California Children’s Services (CCS)/Integrated Systems of Care Division (ISCD) of the California Department of Health Care Services. She is the Director of the High Risk Infant Follow-up (HRIF) Program and the Title V Children with Special Health Care Needs Lead in ISCD. She is an Executive Committee member of the CCS/California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) HRIF Quality of Care Initiative and a past Chair of the Quality Improvement Infrastructure Committee of the CPQCC Perinatal Quality Improvement Panel. Prior to joining ISCD, Dr. Jocson was a Medical Officer at the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division (MCAH) of the California Department of Public Health, where she functioned as the Lead for Infant Health. At MCAH, she was the State Fetal Infant Mortality Review Coordinator and the State Coordinator for the Infant Mortality Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network. Her publication topics include nutrient fortification of human milk, preconception health, perinatal substance use prevention, and infant mortality.
