In June, we announced the evolution of CMQCC, CPQCC, and the HRIF Program into the California Perinatal Quality Collaborative (CA-PQC). In our latest leadership update, we’re pleased to share that Dr. Kurlen Payton, Medical Director of the Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Director of Quality and Safety for Guerin Children’s, has been appointed Medical Director of CPQCC.
Since 2019, Dr. Payton has served as Co-Director of Collaborative Quality Improvement for CPQCC, leading statewide multicenter initiatives across California.
With Dr. Payton’s appointment, all CA-PQC Medical Directors are in place as the collaborative prepares to launch. David K. Stevenson, M.D., leads as CA-PQC Medical Director, and Kimberly D. Gregory, M.D., M.P.H., serves as CA-PQC Senior Associate Medical Director. Bryan T. Oshiro, M.D., serves as CMQCC Medical Director, and Susan R. Hintz, M.D., M.S. Epi., continues as Medical Director for the HRIF Program. Drs. Gregory, Oshiro, Payton, and Hintz report to Dr. Stevenson. Leslie Kowalewski continues as Executive Director of CMQCC/CPQCC and the CA-PQC.
Together, CMQCC, CPQCC, and HRIF will continue working with clinical professionals, public health experts, communities, and families to improve maternal and infant health outcomes, address disparities, and advance health equity through sustainable systems and structural change.
Applications for the CA-PQC Advisory Council are currently under review, and members will be announced in November. The Advisory Council will provide strategic guidance to the CA-PQC Executive Steering Committee and help ensure the voices and needs of California mothers, babies, families, communities, and health care partners are represented.
We look forward to sharing more updates in the coming weeks. For questions about CMQCC or CPQCC’s activities, please email info@californiapqc.org.
