Title:
Family Advisory Council Member
Nicole Burns

Born and raised in the heart of Sonoma County, Nicole is a proud mother to two beautiful children earthside and one angel daughter who forever holds a piece of her heart and continues to play a big role in her family. As a twinless twin mama, her journey through grief has shaped who she is and ignited a deep calling to walk alongside others navigating similar paths. She advocates for families experiencing loss and grief, with a special focus on neonatal and infant loss.

By day, she is a self-proclaimed boring accountant — but outside of work, you’ll usually find her at the barre (exercise) studio, sneaking in a spa day, or buying another plant for the garden. Cooking is a secret passion of her's - she has even gotten her kids to enjoy salads! Watching her kids dive into sports and their own little adventures is her favorite kind of chaos. She recently celebrated 20 years with her husband—we’ve built quite the life together, and somehow, they're still laughing their way through it.

They never imagined being a NICU family. It’s not something they would have chosen, and it doesn’t define them—but it is forever a part of their story. Their experience, as difficult and unexpected as it was, helped shape their family into who they are today. It brought pain, but also perspective, strength, and connection. And in ways she never anticipated, it sparked a passion in Nicole—a deep desire to support other families, to bring light into some of their darkest moments, and to create space for healing and hope.
